“How are you feeling?” Frank asked, lying down beside her.

Rachel took a deep breath and lay beside him. It just felt right, though she couldn’t discern why. Without a second thought, she laid her head across his chest and began to undo the little white buttons down his gray dress shirt, one by one.

He gazed at her with his silver eyes and cocked his brow. “Are you doing what I think you’re doing?” he asked.

“Yes,” Rachel said matter of factly. “I am. Because after all I’ve been through, I’m hoping that you’ll be gentleman enough to treat me to a little stress reliever.”

“Should I—” Charlie started, but she cut him off, hopping to her knees in a sudden rush of energy and placing a finger on his lips.

“You should help,” she said, and Charlie was on top of her, apparently needing no motivational speech. He kissed her lips briefly before he moved down her neck and into her bosom, trailing his tongue between her breasts as he toyed with the zipper holding her dress together.

Frank leaned over to kiss her, and the moment they locked lips, all thoughts of Samael flew away into a deep pocket of her mind, one she somehow knew she would not need to reopen again. She moaned into the kiss and shuddered.

Charlie had unzipped her dress and was nibbling around between her thighs, fluttering his fingers across her swollen vulva beneath her pink silk panties. She was already wet, the moisture dribbling onto her thighs, and she gasped into Frank’s mouth when Charlie lapped up the cum. She struggled to remove her panties, but Charlie took care of it for her. At once, she was treated to the warm sensations of his soft tongue, fluttering between her lips and dashing over her clitoris.

“Touch me,” she moaned to Frank, and he unhooked her bra, gently rolling his smooth hands across her nipples.

“You know that if you do this,” he whispered in her ear. “You’ll have our pack’s protection. From Samael. Is this the only reason that—”

“No,” she said quickly. “I’m doing this because I want to. Because I want you, Frank.”

“Well,” he said with a smile. “What a coincidence. Because I want you, too.” He dipped his head down and pushed her breasts together briefly, lapping at her nipples together before he released them and tended to each breast one at a time.

Between her legs, Charlie’s pace picked up and she groaned as she came. His lips wrapped around all of her, suckling the cum from between her legs and making her sigh in relief.

Charlie got to his knees and stared her down. Rachel nodded, and he pulled his pants from his narrow waist, discarding them on the floor before sliding his length inside of her.

The movements were slow, deliberate, and Frank’s lips met hers once again as Charlie’s member cruised inside of her, arousing every inch he could find.

She sighed into Frank’s mouth again and again as Charlie gradually picked up the pace, his eyes glimmering in her peripheral vision as he let out a huge breath of his own. He put his hands on her thighs and brought them together, shaking her a little bit as he enjoyed the last moments of his orgasm.

Charlie pulled away and Frank offered her one more kiss before he slid around and planted his naked waist between her legs, sliding in at an angle that made her squeal. He pushed her legs up and leaned them back. Charlie took them, and she lay spread eagle, more exposed than she’d possibly ever been in her life.

“How do you like it?” Frank asked, a mischievous glimmer in his eyes. From his hands hung a long string of green beads that he had procured seemingly from thin air. “We like it a little rough on this end of town.”

“Yes,” she whispered, and he nodded, making a gentle circle inside her pussy as he wet the beads in his mouth. They tickled her asshole for only a moment before they found their way inside. He pulled them from side to side, jiggling them back and forth as he explored her ass.

Once again, Rachel found she could not last long under all the sensations. She came, her pussy dribbling a fresh stream of cum all over Frank’s cock, flowing in a river so thick that she saw him look down and smile at the marvel.

“Fast, little girl,” he said with a chuckle and Rachel heaved a gigantic breath of respite.

Charlie’s tongue flickered its way down her belly as he handed her ankles off to Frank, who spread her legs wide. Frank’s cock moved in further as Charlie’s tongue met her clitoris, and the two worked her into a frenzy within seconds.

An orgasm hit her, arching her back before she collapsed back onto the bed. Charlie’s tongue brought her down gently, and the final circle Frank made with his cock pulled a much quieter orgasm from her body. He shuddered, clearly having found his own release and slid himself out. The anal beads followed, back into his hand. Charlie moved away, allowing Frank to kiss up and down her thighs before he came to a stop at her face. “How was that?” he asked quietly.

“It was wonderful,” she breathed as the shifter settled down beside her. She put her head on his chest, sliding one hand back to grasp Charlie’s. “It was very...sweet.”

“Will you go to sleep here?” Frank asked, a boyish smile on his face as he looked down on her.

“I would love to.” Rachel curled up happily between the two, feeling a wolf herself for the moment.

“Welllll,” Charlie said. “In that case, you should know something. About how we sleep around here.”

  “What’s that?” she asked.

The two shifters exchanged a glance.

“We sleep in wolven form,” Frank said.

  “Wow,” Rachel said.

“Bad wow or good wow?” Charlie asked with a smile.

“Oh, good wow,” she assured him. “Totally good wow. Can I...can I watch you transform?”

The two nodded at her and backed away, already conveniently naked as the transformation overtook their bodies.

Rachel watched in awe as their backs cracked, their spines twisting as their perfect forms were overtaken in silver hair and a wolf’s mane. Their eyes, however, remained the same, even as the form of the wolf was completed. When they were done, they stared at her like the most intelligent pair of animals she had ever seen.

It was odd. She could still tell them apart, as if perhaps there were not so much difference between animal and man as she had once supposed. Rachel reached forward, resting a hand gently on Frank’s warm, smooth nose. A smile came over her face, the sort of expression she was once sure she might never get to experience again. “You all are beautiful,” she whispered.

“Well,” said Frank, and she started to hear his man’s voice coming from his animal form. “Does that mean you’ll stay here, Rachel?”

  They wolves exchanged a glance.

“Yeah,” Charlie said. “As our mate?”

“You, um.... really want me to stay, huh?” she asked. “I didn’t think you would like me that much.”

“That fire vampire really messed you up, huh?” Frank asked, shaking his great head as he snuggled up beside Rachel on the bed.

She lay down in his fur, startled by the soft warmth of him.

“Made you feel bad? That’s what they do, Rachel. They’re strange, so much different than the rest of the supernatural community. I don’t think they can feel.”

“We’ve got to let you out of your cage,” Charlie said with a sigh as he joined the two, cuddling up under her legs and making her smile. “And I think if you say yes, we might be able to help you out with that.”

“Well,” Rachel said quietly, feeling serene between the two wolves, as if she had belonged there all along. “Then...yes.”

  Chapter Six

Rachel laughed hysterically as the her ball came to a stop in the middle of the pool table, about as far away from the ball she had intended to hit as it could have been.

Charlie shook his head and grinned.

“You are just awful,” Janika said with a good-natured laugh, one arm around Lance as the couple walked the pool table, plotting their next move together. They were playing on teams, and Rachel and
the wolves were losing terribly to Janika and the tigers

“I know, I know,” Rachel said. “I should be stopped. I really should be.”

“Speaking of being stopped,” Frank said from beside her, his hand resting on her waist. “Has anyone heard anything about Samael? I have a suspicion he’s been sniffing around the condos. I heard he’s been on a rampage ever since Rachel didn’t come back. Causing trouble and all that.”

Rachel shook her head. “I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to forgive myself for telling him where you all live.”

“You didn’t know,” Janika said, shaking her head furiously. “And besides. You were under his spell. Bad. For instance, you thought that I wouldn’t know you were a vampire. Come on.”

Rachel smiled at her co-worker, and Janika offered her a wink in return.

“Ugh,” said Charlie. “This calls for a drink. On me. I’m going to head upstairs and make Kit serve us. It’ll be funny, with all the snobby vampires up there.”

“Ooo, ooo,” Janika said. “Tell Kit I said hi!”

  “Will do.”

Charlie winked at Rachel as he headed across the dance floor, opening the door that led upstairs to the boom boom of the bass from the upper level. The vampires were more into dancing than conversation from what Rachel had gathered, though she did know that a lot of them had private suites upstairs that were said to be, well, to die for. She smiled at the thought before turning her attentions back to her friends.

“So,” she said, squeezing Frank’s hand. “Does this mean that there’s going to be a war in SoulCity? All because of me? I know now that Samael didn’t really care about me, so what is there possibly for him to have his panties in a bunch about?”

“You were still his mate,” Lance said. “That’s serious stuff for any supernatural creature, no matter what kind of feelings they have. Or, um, lack thereof.”

  “Oh?” Rachel asked warily.

“Yeah, unfortunately,” Janika said, slapping the pool ball with her stick. As usual, it’s landing inside the pocket was picture perfect. Rachel’s boss could be the ultimate pool shark if she wanted. “And you, I don’t know, stiffed him. I mean, we know that he was an asshole and that he had you under his fire vampire spell for years, but he’s not going to see it that way. The way this breed of asshole sees it, you were disloyal to him. Not the other way around. You know, because drugging up women for years is socially acceptable and all that.”

Rachel laughed, but inside, she was still cagey. The world had finally opened back up to her after nine years with Samael, and she still couldn’t believe she’d been so entranced at times. She’d been unable to get him off her mind, no matter what she was doing, but it’d been that way so long she hadn’t known anything different. It was as if her mind had been programmed to destroy her own sense of self-preservation in order to stay loyal to him alone. Now, in the company of her new friends, she tried not to be bitter at all the time she’d lost. It couldn’t possibly be worth it, and she definitely wasn’t going to let Samael win by allowing herself to be miserable apart from him. It would be just the outcome he wanted. She knew that much about him, having been a prisoner of his false love for so long.

Charlie appeared with another round for them and a smile on his face. Seeing Rachel’s stricken expression, he patted her on the shoulder reassuringly. “Well, wouldn’t you know it, Rachel,” he said, pausing to take a sip of his own drink. “The vampires said they want us to come hang out with them.”

“Really?” Rachel said before she took a swig of her cranberry vodka. “Why’s that?”

“Well, you are a vampire,” Janika said with a wink.

“Oh, yeah,” Rachel said absently. It seemed she’d been in such a haze she’d lost her own identity. Once again, she shook off the bitter feelings and reminded herself that her life was her own again.

“Kit really wants to meet you,” Charlie said. “I think you’ll like her and Jax. They’ve actually grown on me. Even if they are vampires.”

Rachel giggled. “Well,” she said. “Lead the way, shifter.”

Charlie smiled as the friends followed him to the door of the vampiric club that was the second floor of Club Heat. The new girl at the downstairs bar, Trixie, waved as they headed up into the hot, narrow hallway that led upstairs.

Rachel took a deep breath. She had to admit, it was wonderful to smell her own kind, the species she’d been denied the company of while under the spell of the fire vampires. Their scent was wondrous, the sweat of the dance floor smelling more of rosewater than filth.

Rachel took in the sight of the dancers when they arrived in the upstairs club, their beautiful, waving bodies drifting to the sound of the music as though they were a part of it themselves. They all looked so content in their own being that Rachel longed for their company at once. She grasped Frank’s hand and pulled at him, urging him to dance with her.

“Of course,” he said gently. “You’re not going to leave me and run off with one of your own, are you?”

“Oh, Frank,” she said, wrapping her arms around him as she adjusted her motions to the sound of the beats that played all around them. “Not unless you can turn a shifter into a vampire.”

  “It’s not unheard of.”

“What?” Rachel asked in disbelief. “I was only kidding.”

“Well,” said Frank. “It’s uncommon, but they do exist. Hybrids of just about any sort you can imagine. That’s the beauty of the supernatural world, I guess.”

  “Except fire vampires.”

Frank laughed, his voice barely audible as the music picked up.

  “Except fire vampires,” he repeated.

Rachel took a curious look around at the vampires as she leaned into Frank’s chest. Maybe there was even more unexpected happiness to be found in her world yet.

“And you,” she said. “Would you do something that crazy for a silly old gal like me?”

Frank’s eyes widened. “Well, Rachel. That’s what I’ve wanted to tell you. I’m pretty sure I’d do just about anything for you.”

  “Then come get wild!”

With a laugh, the pair was off into the crowd, their forms disappearing into the fog of the dry ice.
